About Radon

You can’t smell it. You can’t taste it. You can’t see it.

Yet it is the leading environmental cause of lung cancer in non-smokers and the second leading cause of cancer in smokers. In other words, even if you never smoked, you still have a 1 in 20 chance of being diagnosed with lung cancer if you have been exposed to high levels of radon gas, lingering nefariously in your home! For smokers, the stats are worse… with radon increasing their chances of lung cancer to as high as 1 in 3.

In short, radon is dangerous and it doesn’t belong in our homes.

Where does it come from?

Radon gas comes from the breakdown of uranium in the earth. As it rises up through the soil, it concentrates in our homes. When we breath it in, the decaying radon particles release alpha radiation which then can damage the cells in our lungs. This leads to cancer.
