Our History

about synergy radon

With a background in residential renovations, structural repairs, WETT certification, and certified home inspections, Cody has maintained a long-standing passion for improving homes and helping people feel comfortable and safe in their dwellings. In 2014, Cody launched Synergy Radon (formerly Synergy Home Inspections) to help respond to the need for certified radon mitigation professionals in the Okanagan Valley.

Due to his deep understanding of the varying components and systems of individual homes, Cody was well suited to become the Okanagan’s first Certified Radon Mitigation Professional. As the demand for radon mitigations grew, Cody made the decision to retire his home inspection business and follow his greater passion of working with homeowners to resolve their high radon levels, all the while getting to wield his many power tools. Always keen to learn, Cody added thermography certification to his resume in 2022 and is constantly seeking ways to improve his knowledge and his business.

A spokesperson for radon, Cody has presented on radon and complex radon mitigation systems at Canada’s National Radon Conference, educated many professional groups throughout BC, and assisted with instructing radon mitigation courses. An advocate for safe homes, he continues to invest his time educating individuals, professional groups, and communities about the dangers of radon gas.

When he isn’t mitigating homes or presenting on radon, Cody can be found raging down the mountains on his bike with his fun-loving labrador retriever. A long-term resident of the Okanagan Valley, Cody has always enjoyed skiing, downhill mountain biking, fishing, and spending time in the outdoors with his wife and two kids.

FAQ

YES. Call for scheduling and travel pricing.

No. HOWEVER, we do our very best to get your radon as low as we possibly can. Many of the homes we mitigate end up with average levels below 75 Bq/m3. That being said, radon is a gas and it is sneaky. There are many factors that influence radon ingress, such as outdoor temperature, barometric pressure, precipitation, building air tightness, building design and layout, heating and ventilation types and sizes, design of HVAC ductwork, how occupants operate the systems within their homes, among other factors.

Every home is unique with its own set of challenges. In our experience about 1 in 50 homes will not respond adequately to the prescribed radon system install, and it will need additional measures. If we suspect that your house will not respond to a traditional system, we will inform you as soon as possible about the install and communicate with you along the way so you can be part of the decision making process. All that being said, we wouldn’t still be in business without having had years of amazing success reducing radon levels in homes and keeping our clients breathing safely.
